Over the past year, Legal Week’s editorial, intelligence and event teams have been speaking to the legal community to find out what really keeps them up at night.

From General Counsel to Managing partners, three major issues were identified:

LegalCollaboration

As competition amongst law firms gears up and in-house are forever finding new products, services and more efficient ways of doing things by themselves, collaboration and the value of alliances, both internally and externally, is emerging as the answer in 2018.

LegalCollaboration focuses on:

  • How law firms and service providers can collaborate, without strategic direction from in-house clients
  • What in-house corporates need to do, to take a step back from daily churn and envision a partnered service offering which is matched exactly to their needs
  • What innovative strategies can alternative service providers and technology offer in partnership with others?

LegalDiversity & Inclusivity

Everyone’s seen the meteoric rise of #metoo and the ongoing discussion of “women in law”, but rarely do platforms welcome insight from both women and men to discuss gender equality in law. In order to incite change in the UK legal industry, both genders need to be present, which is why we are asking every female attendee who signs up, to bring a male colleague:

  • How can General Counsel use their buying power to ensure real progress,?
  • How can law firms create more inclusive, diverse teams by breaking away from the traditional firm culture, including the billable hour?
  • Can gender neutral parental leave solve gender inequality in law? What about technology?
  • Do men get an unfair time in 2018?

LegalTalent

Talent: The most important element of any business. No matter how far technology develops, people are integral to the true success of a business. A key ingredient of talent is its composition reflecting the diversity of our society, but how do you manage this? With changing employee expectations of working hours and flexibility, how can you attract, retain and develop the best talent?

LegalTalent is a unique offering that enables associates and law students the opportunity to present their varying innovative ideas on how the legal sector can drive diversity and inclusivity in 2018. Individually or in teams, candidates will have 3 minutes to make their pitch to five business leaders, including global General Counsel from major multinationals. Get voting live in the audience to help our judging panel choose who the LegalTalent winners should be!
